Man’s best friend… I think not. How did they get here?
Like most insects, they crawl through cracks in the walls, an open window or hitch a ride in on your grocery bags. And if you know “Webster” from the popular movie, Charlotte’s Web, you might be quite partial to spiders. However, most people really hate spiders. Even the toughest of men will squeal at the sight of a big spider!
Behavior & Habits
Spiders have special skills and are capable of producing silk that is elastic, yet strong. They use those skills and abilities to web their home and construct egg sacks. There are thousands of different types of spiders all over the world. Some like moisture rich areas of homes, such as basements and crawl spaces. Others like a dry, warm home such as upper corners of an attic or air vent.
I bet you didn’t know this:
Spiders have 3 to 4 pairs of eyes, yet their vision is poor. However, the jumping spider has really good vision. And male jumping spiders perform elaborate dances to attract the attention of a female spider. But watch out Spiderman! Your moves may be slick but after mating with spider woman, you could become dinner for her after the deals done.
