What do they look like?
No, they are not the kind of fish you are thinking of! Silverfish are white to brownish-gray in color. They have a teardrop shape and measure from 12-19mm in length.

Behavior & Habits
Silverfish prefer to live in dark, damp areas such as closets, attics, basements, kitchens, and bathrooms. They love to attach themselves to paper and damp clothing. Most commonly they are found inside sheds or garages, in and around stored boxes.

Silverfish have been known for their destructive feeding habits. They ruin papers, clothing, and wallpaper. They can live in almost any environment, but prefer to love in high humidity areas of a home. Therefore, the best way of prevention for these guys is to control humidity.

I bet you didn’t know this:
Centipedes, earwigs, and spiders all feed on silverfish.
