Snakes

When you think about pest control, snakes may not immediately come to mind. But, wherever you find rodents or insects, you might also find snakes.

Snakes can be a huge inconvenience for homeowners.

We safely remove snakes and prevent future snake problems through proven strategies, beginning with eliminating the rodents or insects that snakes like to eat. Our trained technicians can also install safe, mechanical repellants around your building to keep snakes away.

What do Snakes look like?
There are various types of snakes around the world. They can range from 10cm to several meters in length. Their colors and stripes vary from brown, red and greenish hues. Here in Puerto Rico, the gardener snake is most popular to bother people in and around their homes.

Behavior & Habits
Snakes eat animals like insects, worms, small rodents, frogs, and birds. Venomous snakes use their large fangs to kill prey, while nonvenomous snakes bite their prey and then wrap themselves tightly around them to eat.

Your New Roommates
Although lots of people are afraid of snakes, they are actually an important part of our ecosystem. Why? Well, because they help control other pests for a variety of animals. The majority of snakes found in Puerto Rico are nonvenomous and therefore have no health risk to humans. At the same time, most people hate snakes and despite their importance for controlling other pests, they want them out!

I bet you didn’t know this:
Some snakes lay eggs and others actually give birth to baby snakes.

Do-it-Yourself Ineffectiveness
Although venomous snakes are not common in this area, you really never know. There’s always a first time for everything! To help prevent snakes around your garden or backyard, remove things they want to make a home in, such as wood piles, high grass, and overgrown vegetation. When those types of things are removed, the snakes will relocate. However, if you need it peace of mind, don’t hesitate to give us a call
